Update: Harmony needs eye surgery immediately

please help share to get Harmony the care she needs I never thought we would find ourselves creating a GoFundMe, or asking friends, family, and our community for help with something like this, but right now, our family is doing everything we can to get Harmony the care she needs.

Harmony is a 4-year-old Boston Terrier who came into my mom’s life at a time when she needed her most. From the day she arrived, she has been the sweetest, quietest, gentlest little soul. She has brought my mom so much comfort and love through some really difficult emotional times, and to our family, she is so much more than a dog, she is family.

A few weeks ago, Harmony went in for what was supposed to be a routine dental cleaning. During the procedure, multiple teeth were extracted, and she came home with a $1,300 dental bill.

A few days later, we knew something was very wrong. Harmony became extremely lethargic and withdrawn. She stopped acting like herself, began drooling from the left side of her mouth, and the left side of her face began to droop. Her eye started rolling backwards, she could no longer move or control that ear normally, and she began showing neuro symptoms that made it look like she may be suffering from a stroke.

She was taken to an emergency veterinarian in Ottawa, where she had an X-ray and was sent home with eye drops and another bill of more than $1,500. Unfortunately, she continued to decline.

Her left front leg and back leg became progressively weaker. She began falling over when trying to walk or even go outside to pee. Eventually, she was barely able to walk and had very little control over the left side of her body. She lost control of her left eye and because she could no longer properly blink or close her eye, it became extremely irritated and a white hazy film formed over top and were scared she may lose her vision for life.

We brought her back to the emergency vet, where we were told that she had an ear infection but because her ear canal was so severely swollen that they could not properly administer ear drops and we were sent home again. but we still did not have an explanation for the neurological symptoms or why Harmony was continuing to deteriorate.

For over a week, my mom has been waiting on a neurologist and a specialist MRI to try to figure out what is happening to her. Unfortunately the MRI cost 6000$ itself.

Harmony is now undergoing a 5-day hospital stay and potential eye surgery. Our hope is to raise enough money to help cover the mounting veterinary costs and, most importantly, allow her to receive the MRI/brain imaging and specialist care she needs so we can finally get some answers

At this point, our family has already spent thousands of dollars trying to keep Harmony comfortable and figure out what is wrong. We are asking for a $8,000 goal to help cover her current hospitalization, surgery, diagnostic testing, specialist care, and the veterinary bills that have already accumulated.

Any amount helps. If you aren’t able to donate, sharing Harmony’s story means just as much to us. We are simply hoping to give this sweet girl the best chance possible and get her back home to my mom.
